The name of this square translates literally as Main Customs Square as the Corvinus University building you see along the Danube was originally a Customs House. The other prominent building is the Central Hall Market, the largest indoor market in Budapest. This market, which sells mostly food, was rated very highly in the CNN Travel list of 2013, beating even la Boqueria in Barcelona. The roof of the market is made from the famous Zsolnay ceramic tiles. Also, of course, you can see the very graceful Freedom Bridge from the square. This bridge was opened in 1896 for the Millennial celebrations but was, as with all the other bridges of Budapest, blown up by the retreating German Army in 1945. Repairs and restoration were completed quickly and the new bridge with its new name was opened in 1946.
